Fans have potential to join Behemoth's All-Star Mile journey

Fans will get a chance to be a part of the All-Star Mile ride with star South Australian galloper Behemoth.

Grand Syndicates are giving one lucky winner a share in the dual Group 1 winner if he secures a much sought-after spot in the $5m feature at Moonee Valley on March 13.

And it’s a simple as forwarding the confirmation email after casting a vote to win@grandsyndicates.com.au and you are in the draw.

After voting closes one lucky person will be a 2.5% shareholder in the horse on the day and any prizemoney earned on All Star Mile Day.

The David Jolly-trained giant took another significant step towards his return to racing in Saturday week’s $102,250 Listed Durbridge Stakes at Morphettville via a Murray Bridge jump-out on Thursday morning.

Jolly said he couldn’t fault the horse, the Adelaide 1100m feature fitting into his schedule perfectly as connections map a path towards the rich feature.

“I’m happy enough with him,’’ Jolly said. “He’s a had a shorter prep, he only had the month off, so he’s having a shorter time getting back to the races,’’ he said.

“He’s had three grass gallops, the jump-out Thursday, it was only a three-horse jump-out so it was more like a working gallop than a jump-out. It’s always hard to know how they’ve gone, but it fitted in nicely with his return to racing next week,’’ he said.

Jolly said it was all about getting a run under Behemoth’s belt ahead of his return to Melbourne for what promises to be another exciting campaign and getting out to a mile for the first time holds no fears.

“He’ll go to the Durbridge not wound up,’’ Jolly added

“I’m glad that race is there, it really gives him time heading towards Melbourne.

“The closest he’s been to 1600m was in the Golden Eagle (over 1500m). We know the 1400m at Caulfield is no issue, I don’t think he’d have any dramas at a mile, it will all come down to how well he’s going at the time,’’ he said.

Jolly and Team Grand will be hoping for another successful weekend in SA at Gawler after they combined with Calypso Reign for an impressive return to racing at Murray Bridge last weekend.

They have Toff Love and Phyla Vell both resuming on the back of impressive jump out wins at Strathalbyn recently.

“We purposely kept Toff Love and Calypso Reign away from each other,’’ Jolly said.

“He seems to be in good form, he jumped out pretty well and that form from last preparation looks pretty good now beating Defiant Dancer,’’ he said.

And he added Phyla Vell was horse who has shown plenty of talent.

“She’s pretty new and I’m not sure what to expect with her,’’ he said.

“She’s a highly strung mare. She will probably roll forward it might just come down to how they cope with the hot day,’’ he said.

Jolly also has Bolt I Am second-up from a break and was hopeful he could again run well.

“He ran OK first-up. Closed late,’’ Jolly said.

“He drops to a Rating race and has a good draw, he might still have a bit of improvement in him,’’ he said.
