Unfinished business: Gytrash locked in for 2021 TAB Everest

Star South Australian sprinter Gytrash will try and climb racing's highest mountain again in combination with William Inglis and Sons in 2021.

Inglis announced today that they have selected Gytrash as their slot holder in the $15m TAB Everest at Royal Randwick on October 16.

"You always hope someone will pick him up, but it's good to lock it in nice and early,'' Richards said.

"And doing it with Inglis is great, I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else.

"They looked after us so well last year, on the day and in the lead-up.

"It was a big crew they had to handle and they did a fantastic job

Gytrash defeated Nature Strip to win the Group 2 Concorde Stakes at Randwick before his game third behind Classique Legend in last year's Everest. The star gelding then went on to win a memorable Yes Yes Yes Stakes over 1300m.

The horse is currently spelling in New South Wales following his luckless run in the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup at Eagle Farm at the end of May and trainer Gordon Richards said the horse was enjoying some down time before following a similar path to 2020.

"Nothing went right in Queensland,'' Richards said.

"He drew a bad barrier was stuck wide throughout and was still going to let down when he ran into trouble.

"That's racing. I'd sooner cop it there than in an Everest.

"He was vetted when he got back to Sydney and everything was fine,'' he said.

Richards said Gytrash would spell throughout June before his Everest campaign commences.

"I've just been speaking to Clare Cunningham and he's at their property at Hawkesbury now,'' Richards said.

"He'll come back the first of July he'll go to Aquagait and go to the water walker before going to Warwick Farm,'' he said.

Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said they were hoping to seek redemption for his placing behind Classique Legend last year.

"We were thrilled to team up with Gytrash last year.

"We really do believe there is unfinished business with this horse (in 2021),'' Webster said.

"He's placed top three in 22 times of 24 starts.

"We're even more proud as we look as the Everest field today, they are all Inglis graduates,'' he said.

Gytrash is the fourth horse selected for The Everest joining Lost And Running who was locked in earlier this week by TAB. Nature Strip (Chris Waller Racing) and Masked Crusader (Max Whitby/Neil Werrett) will also contest the world's richest race on turf.
