RACE 1 - 1:10PM Iron Jack Maiden Plate (1498 METRES)

Open race to start the day and happy to watch. JAKAZONE has been around the mark and was runner-up at Balaklava two stars before running 4th at his local debut behind Ikara. POCKET PENNY made good ground here behind Slipped Up last time and gets his chance.  ILLUSION DATE has been placed at eight of four starts here but finds it hard to win, he does look over the odds around $23 in early markets. VON DEXTER has been racing only fairly but was well in the market in a harder race at Gawler last year, KID KINGDOM was runner-up here two starts back behind Charging Fire and draws a nice barrier.

SELECTIONS: JAKAZONE (5), Pocket Penny (10), Illusion Date (4)

RACE 2 - 1:45PM Bonnetry Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Scratchings give WANDERING EYE it’s chance. He chased home Mutinous at Balaklava three starts back and was OK behind May’s West at Gawler last week. AMBER HAZE is finding it hard to win having placed at nine of 15 starts and will be right in the finish if she can repeat a good run behind Lomax three starts back. ATTACK THE PIN is another is struggling to break through but he does like to roll forward and that pattern can be handy around here. SPIRITED SEDITION was placed at Moe three stats back.

SELECTIONS: WANDERING EYE (6), Amber Haze (8), Attack The Pin (9)

RACE 3 - 2:20PM Port Augusta Refrigeration Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200 METRES)

DOMINATION has really found his mojo again here on the dirt and made it three on end beating Commando Miss last time. He has to lug a big weight but his pattern of running rivals off their feet will take him a long way to winning again. THE RAVEN looks the danger after beating A Thousand Degrees last time. He has a the weight advantage and the stable is going well. BRAZZILIANT was a winner here three starts back and draws a good barrier. AMBERTONE has a good record here and ran well behind Grinzinger Star last time. NORDIC LASS was a good winner here two starts back while ZIPADEE won smartly here in maiden class last time. REGINA DEL DRAMMA has ability and makes her local debut.

SELECTIONS: DOMINATION (1), The Raven (3), Ambertone (9)

RACE 4 - 3:00PM Augusta Bottle & Can Recyclers Benchmark 64 Handicap (1867 METRES)

A few like to roll forward here which could set the race up for AUSSIE SOJOURN who draws the inside but made good ground behind Lollielucas at Murray Bridge last time. She has ability and is worth an each-way play in a race like this. I’M KENNY is a progressive type who keeps stepping up in trip and winning, his latest over the mile. This is clearly tougher but he has a big weight pull over the top weight and makes his own luck. GRINZINGER STAR has found form since coming here winning two of three, with a placing in the Cup in between. He has plenty of weight after the claim but has the best record in the race. DESIDERO goes well here and stuck on OK behind I’m Kenny. He was a winner here three starts back and must be respected having been in the money at five of eight starts here. SIZZLING BULLET beat home all but Grinzinger Star last time and maps well from the middle gate, GALAXY FALLS ran well behind Connemara Rose here in the Cup,

SELECTIONS: AUSSIE SOJOURN (5), I’m Kenny (2), Grinzinger Star (1)

RACE 5 - 3:40PM PARC Tuesday Work Gang Benchmark 58 Handicap (1498 METRES)

TIME WARRIOR has a good record here on his home track with two wins from four starts and he was too good for Ambertone three starts back. He looks well placed in a very winnable race. COMMANDO MISS ran well at her local debut beating home all but Domination and has each-way appeal. THE BOY WONDER is another former Victorian who was a Wodonga winner last October and can improve on his local debut. SLIPPED UP defeated Pocket Penny in maiden class last time out. MISOOL is a former Victorian who can improve in a race like this.

SELECTIONS: TIME WARRIOR (2), Commando Miss (3), The Boy Wonder (1)

RACE 6 - 4:20PM Port Pirie Bus Service Benchmark 54 Handicap (1100 METRES)

Looks a good race for EL MAGNIFICENCE was solid behind French Rock at Balaklava at his SA debut. He looks the race leader and is going to take beating here in what looks a very winnable race. HARBOURNG returned to winning form at Balaklava beating Zoustorm and looks a danger despite a wide barrier. CASE CLOSED is a former SA galloper who started with Will Clarken and was an Albury winner two starts back. RODNEY has been placed at his past two, the latest behind Grand Host at Balaklava and has claims. BRUTAL POWER is a watch, he showed ability for Mike Moroney before going to Alice Springs. ALL THINGS NICE has been placed at three of 10 here.

SELECTIONS: EL MAGNIFICENCE (2), Harbouring (7), Rodney (3)

RACE 7 - 4:55PM Max Cranes Benchmark 54 Handicap (1396 METRES)

Wide open WYNTER LADY is lightly-raced and has ability. She was a Penola winner in May and had very good market support to run favourite behind Canidae at Balaklava last time. AUGUSTA ROCK has won three of 10 starts here and will appreciate getting back here after an average effort on heavy going behind Canidae at Balaklava. SHY BOY was placed here wo starts back and ran well behind Whiskey ‘N’ Women at Murray Bridge last time. SPENCER GULF was a soft winner here last time and should take beating again. THE OLYMPIAN is a former McEvoy galloper who didn’t do a lot first-up for Chris Bieg but is more than capable, ROCKARANSKY is fitter for one run back rm a spell when he got a long way back, he is a winner here.

SELECTIONS: WYNTER LADY (3), Augusta Rock (1), Spencer Gulf (8)
