Change of plans for Regalo Di Gaetano

Richard and Chantelle Jolly have bypassed Saturday’s $500,000 Ballarat Cup with Regalo Di Gaetano who will now head to Melbourne on November 27.

The Group 3 Eclipse Stakes over the 1800m journey at Caulfield is now the target for the last-start John Letts Cup winner who will be trying to continue the red-hot run for the stable interstate.

“I had a talk to the owners and the Eclipse just seemed like a better option,’’ Richard Jolly said.

“We just thought the track conditions at Ballarat might work against him.

“He didn’t really handle the heavy ground in the All-Star Mile and a 2000m race at Ballarat in similar conditions would be a big ask, it would be like a 2200m, so the 1800m option is more appealing,’’ he said.

Stablemate Dexelation is already in the paddock after his brilliant win in the Apache Cat Classic at Cranbourne last weekend.

“What can you say about him? He’s a marvel,’’ Jolly said.

“There was the option to go again at Sandown, but he pulled up a little jaded so he will have a little break.

"There is no shortage of races for him going forward,’’ he said.
